After all the Palmer's were tagged out at the ranch we decided to try there, since we had only seen one spike and one two point the whole hunt. It was about 6:00 p.m. when I saw a coyote run into the field. I told Danny to shoot it because we wouldn't see a deer anyways. He wouldn't, but then finally gave in and blasted him 400 yards away. Danny was messing around trying to get situated when I saw the big one. I said there's a deer. He said shoot it, so the first shot I took I missed and scoped myself ( I was using his 7mm), the second shot I broke his pelvis and ruined the meat- I didn't care, and the third shot went in his throat. We were so excited, Danny thought at first it was maybe a two or three point, then when he realized it was a 4X5 that made the hunt all worth it.
Tuesday I told Danny I wasn't going to put in next year. I changed my mind.

Sounds like a lot of fun. I'm thinking that you should probably NOT take three days next year, though. Work it too boring with you gone. I had to talk to myself all day!
Amanda, that is one sweet buck. thanks for posting the picture. I can't believe you held yourself together long enough to make the shot. I hope to see your deer when I come down tomorrow.
Hey Amanda! I just saw the comment you left on my blog and hopped around until i found you guys. I'm glad you joined the blogging world, it's a great way to keep in touch. Your kids are SO cute.
